若佐慎一《超マゼンダ招き猫様》

私は、江戸時代以前に見られた日本絵画の様式に「今」を
付加した作品を制作し、日本絵画の再提案を行っています。
日本が近代化する以前に見られる描画方法は、西洋的な
立体感や奥行きを意識した方法とは一線を画し、主観的、
平面的な視点から対象を表現する方法を取っています。
こうした日本画の様式は日本の漫画やアニメ、
ゲームの中に姿を変容させつつも受け継がれています。
時代の流れの中で、精査され残った物の中にこそ、
日本文化の本質が息づいているのではと考えています。
私は自身の表現が、その連続していく流れの一部に
なることができればと思っています。　ー若佐慎一

I am re-proposing Japanese painting by creating works
that add“ now” to the style of Japanese painting seen
before the Edo period. The drawing methods seen
before Japan’s modernization are distinctly different
from Western methods that are conscious of
three-dimensionality and depth, and express
the subject from a subjective, flat perspective.
This style of Japanese painting has been carried over
into Japanese manga, anime, and video games,
although it has undergone a metamorphosis.I believe
that the essence of Japanese culture lives on in
the objects. I hope that my own expression can be
a part of this continuous flow.　 ーShinichi WAKASA

1982年広島県生まれ。2013年広島市立大学大学院満期退学。
2023年「魚行水濁鳥飛毛落」（Kudan house / 東京）など個展多数。
2022年「日本画のゆくえ －継承と断絶・模倣と創造 」
（栃木県立美術館）、落合陽一×若佐慎一 二人展
「ぐわぐわぬるぬる : 森からいづる不可視な境界線を廻って」
（Karimoku Commons Tokyo）などグループ展やアートフェアに
多数参加。栃木県立美術館、円覚寺 龍隠庵（神奈川）に
作品収蔵。2021年落合陽一と串野真也と共に、
ファッションブランド「凄い若い」を立ち上げ。
