Profile

1985年高知県生まれ。
2011年地元の和紙職人との出会いを契機にちぎり絵の制作を開始。
2025年「Hashiru Ueda × Aki Yamanaka『けっこうけだらけ』」（ギャラリー月極 / 東京）、「藝の工藝」（伊勢丹新宿店 / 東京）、「”TSUKIGIME”POP UP EXHIBITION」（LOVUS gallery / 東京）などグループ展に多数参加。
2020年第33回全国和紙画展金賞、2021年第34回全国和紙画展大賞を受賞。
2019年天皇皇后両陛下および彬子女王殿下への献上品に作品が選出される。

Born in Kochi in 1985.
Began creating chigiri-e (torn-paper collage works) in 2011 after meeting local washi (Japanese paper) artisans.
Group exhibitions: 2025 “Hashiru Ueda × Aki Yamanaka: Kekkō Kedakake” Tsukigime (Tokyo), “Mechanic art of art” Isetan Shinjuku Store (Tokyo), “TSUKIGIME POP UP EXHIBITION” (LOVUS gallery / Tokyo), and more.
Awards: 2020 Gold Prize at the 33rd National Washi Painting Exhibition; 2021 Grand Prize at the 34th National Washi Painting Exhibition.
In 2019, his work was selected as a gift presented to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, as well as to Princess Akiko of Mikasa.

Statement

身近にある素材の本質に目を凝らし、それをまだ誰も見たことのないかたちで提示すること。
私の制作は、そんな問いかけから始まります。土佐典具帖紙という極薄和紙を、繊維の状態にまで解体し、それらを再構成して動物の毛並みを描く行為。それは、紙が本来持つ力を解き放つ作業でもあります。
一枚の紙を繊維として捉え直すことで、素材そのものの可能性を探り、世界を新たな視点で捉え直すことを目指しています。紙の繊維が持つ時間と密度、そして静かな生命力を通して、見る人の感覚に触れるような作品を届けたいと考えています。

My creative process begins with a question: how can I observe the essence of familiar materials and present them in a form that no one has ever seen before?
I dismantle Tosatengujoshi—an ultra-thin Japanese paper—down to its individual fibers and reconstruct them to depict the texture of animal fur. This act is also a way of releasing the inherent power of paper itself.
By reinterpreting a single sheet of paper as a network of fibers, I explore the latent potential of the material and seek to reframe the world from a new perspective.
Through the time, density, and quiet vitality inherent in the fibers of paper, I hope to create works that gently touch the viewer’s senses.
