In the past, I have consistently
based my work on my own concept
o“f Wonky Tunes”
(wobbly, unstable melodies).
In my work, parts of the distorted
character are integrated into
the whole, curving like a melody,
and something new is reconstructed.
I use characters to express
the laws of nature, which at first
glance seem irregular, but upon closer
observation are regular and beautiful.
The characters, which spread
out in a radial pattern, change
their expressions in various ways
depending on the viewer’s angle
and distance. The work can be
interpreted and viewed in
a variety of ways from time to time. ーMaoka UEDA
